NEGRONRosa Arreaga-Negron, CPA, CFE was named Business Women of the Year by the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at the organization’s Tenth Annual Latina Hat Luncheon, held on Friday, May 15, 2015 at The Carton at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, New York. Ms. Arreaga-Negron was presented her award by Linda Mangano, Nassau County First Lady.

Ms. Arreaga-Negron, a resident with her husband and children in Farmingdale, NY, is a partner in the Garden City public accounting firm of Armao LLP. Among her responsibilities, she leads the firm’s practice group Armao en Español, which provides the entirely of the firm’s accounting, auditing, consulting and tax services in Spanish to those clients who are more comfortable conversing in their native tongue.  

A TEENAGER SPEAKING NO ENGLISH IMMIGRATES TO LONG ISLAND

A native of Ecuador, Ms. Arreaga-Negron immigrated to the United States at the age of 16, joining her three older brothers in Hicksville, NY. With English not even her second language, she entered Hicksville High School and took English as a second language classes, watched English-language television and translated newspapers on her own to become bi-lingual and able to communicate. Following high school graduation, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from City University of New York – Queens College. 

ROSA ARREAGA-NEGRON’S PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Rosa Arreaga-Negron specializes in auditing and government reporting as it pertains to Taft-Hartley multi-employer benefit plans, labor unions and not-for-profit organizations. She uses her extensive knowledge of employee benefit plans and labor union operations to generate substantial savings for the organizations she serves, while creating strategies and applications designed to streamline their operations and improve internal controls. Ms. Rosa Arreaga-Negron is also a Certified Fraud Examiner, having earned the standard of professional excellence in the anti-fraud profession.

Ms. Arreaga-Negron is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA), the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) and the Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center (EBPAQC). In the Nassau Chapter of the NYSSCPA, Rosa is a member of the Employee Benefits committee.   

She has been featured in “Who’s Who in Accounting” in Long Island Business News and was a 2010 recipient of the publication’s “40 Under 40” awards, recognizing outstanding future leaders on Long Island. In 2014, LIBN named Ms. Arreaga-Negron one of the Island’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in Business. She has been a team leader for several years of “Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes” on the Jones Beach boardwalk.
